Bisham Abbey Team Reports

My team started the night in the Elizabethan Room with Bryan. After a quick instruction of the equipment we had available (dowsing rods, pendulums, laser thermometer, camcorder and EMF meter), we started with some focussed breathing exercises. Very quickly Bryan was aware of a male presence in the room. Throughout our vigil, Bryan felt that this particular spirit was very dismissive of what we were doing and a little contemptuous. One member heard buzzing very close to her ear, we tried to locate any insects, but no-body heard anything else similar for the remainder of the vigil. Bryan explained that this could have been a spirit communicating. We heard regular tapping noises, and although we couldn't identify specifically where they were coming from, we assumed it was probably down to the wind / rain. During our call outs using the dowsing crystals and rods, we seemed to get a spirit claiming to be Mary Queen of Scots, as well as the spirit of a man. Anna noticed that the light on my torch was acting erratically, so we called out asking for any spirits to affect the torch but no further anomalies were seen.

Elizabethan Room with Amy: Amy focused the group on breathing. Bryan became aware of a presence in the room. The names of Roger and James kept coming forward and the year 1316. Either 1309 or 1316. Something happened between those two dates. One participant had buzzing in her ear and thought it was a fly. 2 women said that they felt dizzy. The word Roger kept coming to Bryan. Bryan mentioned he felt that Bisham was used as a confinement centre, as he was getting the words ‘only special prisoners’. Getting lots of royalty images and two Queens at different times. Dowsing rods crossed when they asked if Roger visited Bisham Abbey. Bryan then asked whether Mary had visited Bisham Abbey and the dowsing rods moved towards yes. Bryan then asked if the lots of imprisonment stories were lies, the dowsing rods did not move and when the question, ‘was this building used as a safehouse?’ was asked, they did not move either. Bryan felt that his index finger on his left hand was half missing. A pain in the hand was also felt by Amy and Lorraine. Bryan also getting sensation of burning eyes.

Towards the end of the vigil, the camera battery completely drained. Another participant felt that someone was hugging her back. Bryan felt that there was a male energy trying to challenge another energy, a male and female presence. Bryan kept hearing ‘Albert or Alfred’.

Our second location was the Vansittart Room. We were a little apprehensive of this location as one of the team was really affected here during our pre-investigation walk around. I started filming with the on location camcorder, but within 10 minutes it was telling me it was out of battery so I turned it off. We started calling out and one member stated that she had heard a breath in her ear, this happened for her several times. We investigated the fireplace to see if it could be a draught, but no-one else experienced this phenomena. One member felt they had picked up on a spirit of a abusive and aggressive male and the atmosphere felt very heavy. We tried a white noise experiment with a Dictaphone and then moved on to attempting communication with the audio lights. These seemed to indicate that we were talking to a spirit of a young boy. During the break after this vigil, I returned to the room to change the camcorder battery. However when I turned the camcorder on, it was showing as having 89 minutes of battery left.

Margaret Dickinson / Sonning Room

We all agreed before heading to this location that we had all felt really uncomfortable towards the rear end of the Margaret Dickinson Room, and so naturally we headed straight for that area on our vigil! During the time we were settling in, I personally felt very edgy. I felt like there was something pacing around the room anxiously. One member reported seeing shadows and in particular, the silhouette of a dog. We attempted glass moving in this location, and seemed again to be communicating with the same boy that we were talking to in the Vansittart Room. He indicated that his name was James; he hadn't lived in Bisham Abbey, but relatives of his had and he'd visited during his lifetime. He expressed concern that he shouldn't really be there and seemed to be worried about getting into trouble. Very abruptly the atmosphere changed - it became very oppressive and dark and the glass started moving very fast around the table. The team were feeling very uncomfortable about this new development and so we finished our vigil a little early.

During our settling in time in this room, we noticed that one of the doors were swinging very slightly in the wind - no more that an inch or so either way. I called out and asked for any spirits that were present to open the door; within a second or so of asking the door opened fully and stayed open. I pulled it closed and asked again with a similar response. Whilst we agreed that this may have been coincidence with the wind, we were all very impressed that it had happened twice on demand and also that it did not happen again of its own accord during the rest of the vigil. We also experimented with automatic writing on one of the tables. The session started out quite sluggish and slow, with no real positive answers to any of our questions. I then called out for Lady Hoby to come and communicate with us. The whole movement of the planchette completely changed. It became very fast and almost aggressive - at one point tearing through the paper. It also moved in a way that I have personally never seen before. For certain questions, the planchette would stop moving and start gently swinging from side to side. We were all a little puzzled by this, until one member said that it looked like someone shaking their head to indicate 'no'. The movements following this revelation, indicated that this was so. Lady Hoby said that she was responsible for her son's death and that although she had beaten him before, this wasn't the cause of death. We also attempted some mirror scrying in this room without any real success.

Our final vigil of the night was the Warwick Room. We were watching the projected CCTV images and calling out asking for any spirit to affect the things we could see on the screen. We called out for things to be moved, people to be touched or affected in another way. We did see some very strange light anomalies in the Elizabethan Room, but other than that, it was a fairly uneventful vigil.

All in all, it was a fantastic event and I'd like to give a huge thank you to the team members of Alpha Bravo. You guys were great! You were all really enthusiastic, involved and fun - you made the night very interesting and enjoyable!

Team 2 Mike Lima
Group Leader: Matt Laker

Vansittart

We started our investigation in the Vansittart room- began with a very brief run-through of the equipment and how it is used. We then put the lights out, and spread out through the room. After about 4-5 minutes, we started to do some callouts, and got a couple of small taps by a couple of people on the side of the room opposite the fireplace. We then formed a circle in the centre of the room, and asked for any spirits present to communicate with us- this was initially done using the radio de-tuned to generate white noise. Did some callouts- used both the analogue Dictaphone and the digital one together. These are awaiting analysis. We did some more callouts using the audio lights- no responses to these. Felt drawn to the back of the room, did some callouts here, and got some small taps. People in the group started to feel emotional- feelings of sadness and loneliness- felt it was a child in the room. A couple of people, myself included, had tears in their eyes. There were some temperature changes in the room where we were sat.

MD /Sonning

Following on from our investigation of the Vansittart room, we moved on to the Margaret Dickinson and Sonning rooms, accompanied by Bryan Boyle. We started by spreading out and getting a feel for the atmosphere in the room. Bryan started to pick up on some a spirit that was very angry, and Bryan felt this spirit was trying to communicate through him. Bryan picked up on the connection between Bisham Abbey and Windsor Castle. Bryan felt almost overwhelmed by the energy in the room. We moved on to glass moving and had some really good movement in the glass- indicating the spirit Bryan was talking about was one of the Knights templar, and was hanged on the Hanging Tree outside. He claimed that three other people had been hanged there. He didn't want to give us his name, although the name George came out. He said that he was 55 years old. There was a connection between George and another person named Elizabeth, although when asked about this, the spirit stopped responding and moved the glass in circles, although he indicated that someone at the table reminded him of her. The spirit did not want to communicate while Bryan was there. During the glass moving, a couple of people in the room clearly heard a moan which sounded as though it was coming from the room, near to the doorway to the Sonning room.

Margaret Dickinson Room/Sonning Room with Matt Laker:

Plasma balls were used here. Bryan had the name George coming through, talking to a female. The man was dressed in a red uniform jacket with a sword swinging at the side and the words ‘don’t bring her back here’ and ‘she is not a lady’. The man is taking Bryan between this place and a link between confinement between Bisham Abbey and Windsor, a ‘stay of execution’. Bryan also getting the year 1066 and a link to the Battle of Hastings. Also around about that time, he is getting the feeling that Bisham Abbey might have been called something else. But there is also a failed feeling attached to this time, a ‘shut down’ feeling.

The participants and Matt Laker began to try glass divination. The glass started to move at the same time that Bryan felt a really aggressive energy and leapt up – felt like he wanted to swear or hit someone. The glass moved towards a participant called Sarah twice, as though the spirit was wanting to communicate through her. Asked if the spirit of George was there, the answer was yes. Asked if Elizabeth was there, answer was yes. Asked if Sarah looked like Elizabeth and the glass pointed towards yes. Asked if mystical arts were used and the answer was yes. Asked if the spirit felt threatened by Bryan being present and there was no answer. When Bryan asked if there were strong links to the Knights Templars, everyone felt a strong draft. Asked if there was a Masonic order based at Bisham, the answer was yes. Asked if there was a link towards the Knights of St John and there was not an answer. Asked if they travelled to the Holy Land, the answer was yes. Asked if there was a connection to the Knights Templar and the answer was yes. Asked if they safeguarded relics at Bisham, the answer was yes. Asked if the Grand Master came here, the answer was yes. Asked if the man was 43? There was no reply. Asked if he was 50, no reply. Asked if he was between 50 and 60, the answer was yes. Were you 55? Answer was yes. Both Matt and Bryan both had the age 44 in their mind at the same time. Bryan asked, ‘were you tried as a heretic’, the answer was yes. Were you persecuted by the Catholic Church? The answer was yes. The glass did not move when the following questions were asked: Were you persecuted personally? Are you angry with the Catholic Church? But Bryan then asked, ‘Were you hung?’ and the answer was yes. Was it on a tree outside? Yes.

Great Hall

We started this vigil by doing some energy building. We used the plasma ball and some call outs trying to get something to affect the plasma ball. We did not get any clear results from this. We did some callouts to try and get any responses, and we noticed that the door that had been closed was open. I closed the door and asked for whoever had moved the door to move it again. The door moved open again; although it had moved a couple of times, it had only moved a fraction. This time it moved almost completely open. We did some callouts with the auto-writing planchette, and got some movement. Indicated a first initial, although it is unclear whether it was an A or a D. Most of the group got the feeling of being watched and felt unsettled. We set my torch as a trigger object and asked for something to come and knock it over. No responses.

Warwick Room

We started the vigil by discussing the technical equipment in the room, and used the CCTV system to ask for things to affect the other groups- in the Elizabethan Room we asked for a glass to be knocked over on one of the tables, or something to tap someone on the leg. We asked that something would push someone or tap someone in the Great Hall. We asked for audible sounds in the Vansittart room, and asked that someone would be touched. We gathered round a table and tried to get some contact with someone using the dial EMF meter asking someone to move the dial- no response. We asked for some things to be thrown at the group, and no response. We cleared the table and removed the table cloth so we could try some glass moving again. We had an almost instant response from the spirit that had been in the Margaret Dickinson room earlier (as an aside, on discussion with another group leader, they had been trying to contact this spirit, but had been unable to do so during the vigil- does this add more weight to the argument for the spirit being real?)
The spirit wanted to communicate with us as Bryan was not present, and was still very angry- his anger was this time directed at me, because he felt intimidated by me. I reminded him of someone who he had killed in life, and he regretted this. He was reminded of someone by one of the other people at the table- she reminded him of Elizabeth, and he loved her. I had an intense feeling of unrequited love, and felt sick, my stomach was knotted, and I felt really uncomfortable and emotional- welling up at one point. As we were doing the glass moving, I asked a question that the spirit did not like- ‘did you act inappropriately towards ‘Elizabeth’?’ and the table started to tip towards me. Everyone else present had only fingertip pressure on the glass, and no-one was leaning on the table at the time. Further investigation revealed that the table leg had been pushed back on itself and was starting to fold up. As the table was heavy, and no-one had applied any pressure to this, this is unusual. When we put the leg back in place, I tried to push the leg back like we had just seen, and this was very hard to do due to the nature of the table. I personally felt very overwhelmed by what had happened, and took a couple of minutes during the break to go and compose myself.

Elizabethan and Henry VIII

Initially we looked at how to use pendulums, and establishing yes and no answers, and then we split the group into two. Half were put in the Henry VIII room, and the others, and I, stayed in the Elizabethan Room. We asked that if there were any spirits to come and affect the group next door. We asked for something to tap them on the shoulder, and a couple of seconds later, we heard a scream and all three came running back through as ‘the door in the room had been banged’. We decided to go back there and ask for something to happen. We spread out and asked for a sign that something was there. There were a couple of taps on the door, although this is more likely to have been caused by the wind causing a draught. Whilst we were doing this, I noticed a table in the corner of the room, and we moved it near to the doorway to try some table tipping. We asked some questions, and only seemed to get a vibration in the table. I decided to go back to the Elizabethan room to get the Handicam, and when I got back to the room, the table top was moving round in a circle, with the group members trying to keep up with it. They had the feeling that there was a child that was playing with them, and moving the table top. They asked the spirit to move the table and to lift it up, and the table did move- however whenever I attempted to join in, the movement would stop. The group started to sing ring a ring a roses, which prompted a good response in the table top. The top was spinning so fast that the group were struggling to keep up with it!

Team 3 Papa Golf
Group Leader: Paul Godfree

MARGARET DICKINSON ROOM

This was our first vigil location. We got off to a cracking start With the feeling of a person standing in one corner than another corner of the room. The team split up and took base readings .Then we carried out EVP callouts which was recorded onto the night vision camcorder. We conducted a glass moving experiment and got a strong movement to our questions. One of the team recorded the actions of the glass moving onto the camcorder. Through our questions we ascertained that there where two or three children present in that room. With a woman watching over them. But with a man watching the family from a distance in the room. We had strong movement on the glass moving table.

GREAT HALL

Here again we took base readings and camcorder footage . We carried out automatic writing experiments. We had strong movement with the auto writing. We made contact with who we believe to be a 4year old little girl. Who drew a face on the paper as any 4year old would. We had repeated drawing of the letter a and l and I. Possibly spelling the name ALICE. We also had slight attraction to the plasma ball as if someone had touched it. This occurred only when we moved the ball to the edge of the table.

WARWICK ROOM

Here Brian Boyle joined us. He went through various points that he picked up on . Anna took notes. We also observed some large bold orbs appear on camera 1 which was broadcasted to the projector screen. Interesting enough Brian said as one of his many observations that the spirits where showing a connection to me and taking Brian up stairs to the Elizabeth and Henry rooms where the middle large portrait hanging on the wall had some kind of affiliation or connection to me. I was drawn to this picture when I was setting up the cctv camera’s at the beginning of the night but Brian was not aware of this at the time he spoke about the picture. We had great continuity from Brian with aspects from the abbey’s history. The team enjoyed this vigil very much.

Base room with Paul

Bryan saw a woman dressed in black, very pretty, hair tied back, saying ‘sorry’. Bryan kept picking up something from Paul – a man with a beard, Henry VIII. This man was showing Bryan something on an upper level, two doors, two entrances. They also saw him getting a black cat, deerhounds, stables. Also showing Bryan a piece of land – showing monks gardening, growing own food and selling food to a local market. The monks were wearing white robes, tied at the waist. The collar was symbolic of something – telling Bryan to go back before to Bisham the time before the name was changed. This time links in with who they are. The name ‘Abbey’ was changed but was changed deliberately. They were similar to Benedictine Monks, but they weren’t treated right. They were told what to do, persecuted. But these monks were not in the same time period as the horses. The date they gave to Bryan was 1210, showing steps representing steps in time. Bryan said that he was seeing grey hair, beard and eyebrows. The spirit of John started to come back through Bryan, very angry. There was also strong links to London. Also getting the name Carolyn/Caroline, showing paper to do with Bisham and links to London.

ELIZABETH AND HENRY ROOMS

We carried out dowsing rod experiments and pendulum experiments in the Elizabeth room mainly. The team split up in the room and carried out singular callouts and had some great responses . We also called out as a group and again got some great responses to our questions .In the Henry room we called out on mass And got three bangs on the middle locked door. We called out again and asked if who ever banged the locked door .If they could bang it twice more they did. We thought it may be a draught at first but the knocks where too strong and bold to be the weather outside.

VANSITTART ROOM

Here earlier in the evening on the original walk around I had my t shirt on the left arm tugged very hard twice close to a locked door. in the far corner. On our visual we carried out callouts to try and get the audio lights to illuminate . However the heavy regressive feelings witnessed earlier on in the night in this room seemed to of gone. We had little activity in this room on our last vigil.

Over all ,we as a team had a great night .Everyone worked well together we had some great results . And I would like to thank all of team three- PAPA GOLF -for working so hard through out the night and for all the positive energy and input they brought to the group. It was a great pleasure to work with you all.

Team 4 Tango Bravo
Group Leader: Tim Brown

The Great Hall

Our first Vigil we in the Great hall first we all sat around a table where i explained all the things we were going to do in this location, Plasma ball experiment, Auto writing, also we talked about EMF and Thermo meters. we started with a simple adjust to your surroundings technique where the group relax and concentrate on there awareness of the room and the people in it. After this we talked about the technique. Two group members felt that there was a person in the room behind them to the entrance corner of the room, another team member spoke of the sense of a lady with red hair that was watching us from another part of the room.

We then did a Plasma ball experiment but had no result from that so we then performed a séance. Two group members reported that their adjoining hands had gone cold, we checked for drafts but could detect none although the wind was howling outside the Abbey. From this we moved to the automatic writing where we had some instant results picking up on several spirits that wanted to talk to us using this method we recorded the whole things for verification later.

The Warwick Room

we were using this room as a base room and as such it had all the CCTV cameras streaming back to it so for a while we sat and watched the other groups doing their vigils, i asked the group if they could will something to happen to the Team leader in another location, this was unsuccessful, we then set up a glass moving experiment in there and contacted the spirit of a man who was the farther of one of the team, He was able to confirm details about her car, the color etc.

The Elizabethan Room

This room contained Dowsing rods and pendulam crystals, each team member was given instruction on how to use these tools as communication devices and we practiced for a while, as a team we decided that another team member could go into the adjoining room with dowsing rods where they couldn't hear us, the instruction was hold the rods and note the answer they give (yes or no etc) onve this team member was settled the team in the other room asked for the rods to display a yes answer then a no answer and then a yes answer, we then retrieved the team member from the other room and asked what the rods had done, the response was 'Yes, no, yes' exactly as we had asked, although the rods also had given another two answer after we had stopped asking for them. Next we tried an audio experiment and again placed one brave team member in the adjoining room on his own, the rest of the team then asked for noises or sounds to be heard, on the return the team member reported that he had heard nothing. We were all together at one poind trying to decide if we could use an EMF meter as a communication tool when a red orb aprared at a team members feet and moved around the team members ankles, this was witnessed by three team members and although we looked for explanation from reflections etc we found nothing.

The Varstittaret Room

Here we were joined by medium Bryan Boyle and Anthony Nolan Fund raising manager Anna Spencer, Anna was taking noted through the evening on what Bryen was picking up on so we could examine his findings again sed the history of the building, Anna's notes are below.

We started by sitting around in a large broken circle while Bryan talked about what he was picking up on in the room, he spoke about an elderly man that had a stick what was some what respectful of the ladies in the team but resent full of me the team leader when i asked if he would talk to us in some way, in this room we had our audio lights set up so if any sounds could be heard the lights would trigger and allow us to see the velocity and direction of the sound, although none of them triggered , we decided to place on of the audio lights on a table where we could all sit comfortably and touch the base of the lights and ask if spirit could light up certain lights by way of communication (this method had previously been successful on another location) although the lights did light up a few times in response to the questions i felt that the lights were moving under the pressure of people touching them and as such the illumination of them could of been caused by movement and nothing paranormal.

after this we turned on a radio which wasn't tuned into any station as a source of white noise and did some simple EVP call outs, although nothing was heard at the time any results of this will be published under evidence section in the investigation data section of the case file.

Margaret Dickenson Room

This was our final vigil of the night where we were to conduct Glass moving, the team all took part and we communicated with four separate spirits, the whole session was recorded on video camera for information verification which will be found in the conclusion section of the case file should we be able to verify any given information, after the glass moving we tried a simple experiment where we gently through a stone into the darkness of the room and asked that it be returned to us unfortunately it did not, we ended our vigil at this point. i would like to say a massive thank you to team Tango Bravo for your great attitude willingness to learn and take part and trust of your team leader. you guys were great so thank you for making my evening enjoyable also

Varstittart Room with Tim:

Blue light was seen over the fireplace. Bryan said he could see a man, stooped with a stick, sharp features. One of the participants asked if he was a servant and he shook his head. Bryan asked if the man was a witness to any atrocities and the spirit said he was in the bedroom when it happened. He was very complimentary about the ladies in the group and said they were very pretty.

Bryan said that the old man leant on his stick and looked at Tim and went ‘mmmm!’, and pretended to hit Tim with his stick! Said his name was William, he moved his neck tie towards one side and revealed a scar across the collarbone. He was showing Bryan portraits in a cellar. Bryan then asked if the spirit could light up the lights that were placed on one of the tables. Asking if William was there, the red light lit up. Bryan asked if it was not his fault, and it lit up three times on different occasions. When Tim switched sides of the table with the camera, the lights did not light up again.

Team 4 Lima Sierra
Group Leader: Lauren Setters

Warwick room

We started off in the Warick room which was where we had just had the briefing so we were all pretty relaxed and comfortable with the location. We spent some time watching the other teams at there locations on the CCTV and watched some really good footage of orbs in the Elizabethan Room.

Then we talked through some of the experiments that we could do in this location and Sarah decided she would try scrying in the mirror to the right of the screen, while we concentrated on call outs and energy building. Sarah said she found the scrying very strange as it felt as if her face was changing shape! Another member of our team, Tracie then tried the mirror scying and found a very different effect, she felt as if her features were getting darker till she didn’t see her reflection but a black hole! We were all very impressed with the scrying but decided to move on to more call outs. During the call outs we had some luck with tapings and bangings but it was very hard to distinguish these from the sounds of the howling wind outside although another member of the team, Mark felt like he could see a shadow moving at the fatherest end of the wall near our equipment.

We then tried a séance which gave us some great results, Sarah became aware of a man standing next to her in a red military uniform with shiny brass buttons- could this have been the vice-admiral?? We also took a lot of photos and video footage which Ian says he caught a fairly significant orb during the call outs.

Elizabeth Room

My team were very much looking forward to this location as on the walk around with Bryan they had each experienced strange things, Ian was wary of the Bay Window and he felt that we were certain to get activity centred around it and on the walk around Mark was certain he picked up on a Jester being present in the vicinity.

We started by being completely silent to take in any feeling we had about the room, I felt as if the presence was not malevolent but more standoffish and watching than trying to make itself known- it was quite frustrating to have a strong feeling of there being a spirit present, but apart from a couple of orbs which were seen by myself and Tori I didn’t detect anything else. All of the photos taken in this room show a very high level of orbs, to which an awful lot could be put down to dust but they all shouldn’t be brushed off in that way (pardon the punn!). We did distribute the crystals about but they had varying degrees of success and we found it better to concentrate on contacting whatever was in the room in other ways. During another call out Ian and Tracie were sat down in the bay window and were getting some quite distinct taps from a stack of tables against the window. The sound could not have come from the wind as it was obviously in the room. Encouraged by this we sent a willing volunteer Mark) into the other part of the room to have a lone vigil with a video camera on him. We all went back into the main Elizabeth room and did some call outs to centre any activity on him- I’m interested to know if we caught anything on that camera!!! Mark says he did feel as if he wasn’t on his own and the inner door was banging which h didn’t think was the wind… he hoped it was the jester that he had encountered earlier on. I did feel a tickle down my back when we all got together again and tried a last call out, it was as if whoever was touching me was reaching up to reach the centre of my back so I was pretty sure it was a child or a very short spirit (jester????).

Vansittart Room

In this room we spread out and concentrated on trying to make the audio lights move which didn’t bring us any luck at all. We did a lot of call out experiments and EVP recordings which we are all hoping will show some paranormal sounds that we couldn’t pick up. We used the radio for the white noise so that the spirits could more easily come through.

I then left Sarah, Tracie, Mark and Ian alone in the room while myself and Tori went into the stairwell to see if we could get anything to touch or speak to one of them while we were out of the room, Mark did say that he felt very uncomfortable but I found the location to be the least active of the investigation. As I said earlier, I am intrigued to know if any sounds were picked up on EVP.

Margaret Dickinson Room

After the last location the team were quite tired and the mood was pretty somber as we made our way to this location. Tori left to join Matt’s team in the Warick room and so I started with some energy building exercises to encourage any activity. The team were very excited to be doing glass moving and had looked forward to this location all evening after Bryan’s walk around as Bryan had told Mark and Ian that the Strong male presence (further refered to as SM) was very angry at them and hated them being here. We all felt that the far end of the room would be better to do the glass moving as we all felt this area was more active, so we moved the glass and table over to the back of the room and asked if there were any spirits who wanted to talk to us, especially the SM that we had encountered earlier.

The glass started moving strongly straight away, in fact, it was moving so fast that we had trouble keeping up with it as it twisted and turned quite rapidly! We managed to get that this spirt was not the SM we were trying to talk to and he said that he was scared of the SM. He said that he was an owner of the property and that he died in the 1700’s and that his first initial was C…Ian then asked if he was Charles Vansittart and the glass indicated that he was, we all distinctly heard an intake of breath coming from the right of us. He said that he was there with his wife and that he was wary of males because he worried that they would hurt his wife. Very encouraged by this we thanked him then tried to see if there was another spirit that we could talk to as we were detirmed to contact the SM to find out why he disliked Mark and Ian so much. We then had a spirit come through who said he was a member of the Knights templar who had links with the building the contact was not as strong as before and we just managed to find that he was killed in the 1500s before we lost him.

We then moved the table and the glass back to the centre of the room near to the energy ball that was there to try on last time to contact SM, we did get some success that the energy ball started doing some VERY strange things as if someone had their hands on it although we were nowhere near it. The glass did start to turn around and move while we were asking but did not answer any direct questions before our time in this location was up.

[n/b- on leaving the location we found that Matt’s group had been conversing with SM the whole time- no wonder we couldn’t reach him!!!!!]

Great Hall

Bryan joined us in this location and we started with some automatic writing which had varying degrees of success, had a letter M drawn but we quickly lost contact. We then moved over to where the energy ball was and tried glass moving instead, we seemed to get a sprit who indentifed herself as Lady Hoby herself, she said that she was reunited with her son and he had forgiven her, but when I asked whether she had forgiven herself, the glass threw a strop and stopped, we could not regain contact afterwards.

The door to the back of the hall was banging open throughout. I think that if this had been our first location we would have taken more notice of this but we assumed it was the wind and propped it open with a chair!

Bryan picked up on a man standing at the back of the hall towards where the front door was. He said h was wearing a white shirt and a frock coat and that he was telling him that he was a doctor. Im pretty aware that in th 16/1700’s that is what a doctor would have worn, Bryan also described the floppy hat that he had on and we were all sure that the shadows near that area was fluctuating. I also heard some bangings from the balcony that coul not have been explained away by wind.

All in all I would have to say that we had the most activity from the MD/Sonning rooms, some of the details we got on the glass moving were absolutely fantastic! I would defiantly like to re-investigate this location in the future.
