Here is an explanation about some of the equipment the P.I.G.S use on an investigation.
DVD Recorder
Simple terms the modern day Video Recorder, although rapidly now being replaced with Hard drive recorders.
If your using cameras everywhere simply put one of these with it and keep recording, it will save you meters of trailing cables and or camcorder tapes.

Hints and Tips
Be careful to select the right DVD recorder especially if you intend to give the recorded disks to some one else. There are two formats DVD – R and DVD + R. DVD – R is my recommendation as the minus format is what most DVD players use. Choose one with plenty of connectivity. These are great for hooking up to cameras and just leaving them on knowing that you will catch every thing on DVD for inspection later.
Cover the display with a cloth of something else as the smallest light can break the tranquil darkness of a room and will cause confusing shadows on your camera when the numbers on the display change .
Be familiar with your machine before you use it on an investigation as there wont be time on the night for you to learn how to use it and you will end up setting it up incorrectly or wasting time with it.
Remember equipment are simply tools of the investigation not the investigation it self, so always be prepared.
