Here is an explanation about some of the equipment the P.I.G.S use on an investigation.

EMF Meter

One of the most common bits of kit is strangely held by many understood by few and used correctly by almost nobody. (its a bit of kit that has a moving needle meter and an accompanying sound) what it lacks is a LED that flashes and a sound that goes 'ping' see hints and tips

   Hints and Tips

 

First thing First 'get some new batteries' discharged power cells give strange readings on this model of EMF meter. 

When using the unit remember that is loves cables, electrical gadgets, mobile phones in fact anything with power, once you have eliminated all these things you are in a place to start.

We have found that if you make an adaption to the unit by sticking some highly technical masking tape and a marble on it you can keep the button on the side depressed and so keep the unit on constantly which will give you the ability to listen out for the appearance of EMF activity.

This unit is probably best used as an alarm to the presence rather than a measurement of how much as the display and needle are somewhat inconsistent.
