There are many uses for Laptop's, you can use them as data stream relievers, loggers, notepads, video stream receivers, their is always a place for this on an established investigation team.

We use many differant types of computers on investigation here at the P.I.G.S as you can never trust one computer with all of your data.

  Hints and Tips

 

Don't use them on just their battery is you can avoid it, you might loose valuable data if your power runs out.

use simple applications and don't be distracted by it, remember the laptop is simply a tool for receiving data nothing more.

Be familiar with exactly how you will use it before you take it to the location that way you ensure maximum usage and get the results you need.

Visit the location first to plan how you will use your equipment and plan this part of your investigation very carefully.

save of auto save every five minutes to ensure your work is safe.

Remember computers are unreliable at anytime so you can guarantee if you don't plan of use this carefully it will cause you problems.
