Matt Laker profile

I currently work for a charity in Worthing, working within a homeless hostel environment. I am fairly pedantic and meticulous in my approach to anything i do, and if a job’s not worth doing properly, then it probably shouldn’t be done! That said, I appreciate a good ghost story like the best of ‘em! I am often described as a bit of a geek by those who know me, as I am interested in aviation photography, which I feel is a little bit unjust, although I can tell you the difference between a spitfire mark IX and a mark V! It’s good to have a hobby!

Mission:
I personally tend to be as sceptical as possible, which keeps me focussed on non-paranormal explanations. I aim to help gather as much evidence as I can, and to help get as much information as possible into any pre-investigation report that I can. And above all, to have some fun doing so! I aim to become as proficient as possible with investigation equipment, and hope to become a valued and productive member of the team!

Why:
The paranormal has always held some sort of fascination for me- since I was a child I have wanted to see a ghost or experience one. Then as time went on, science kind of takes over, but I think my inner child still wants to see one!!! And I do like to listen to my inner child!!! I was ‘spammed’ by Tim on Facebook, and thought I would check the PIGS out. I responded to the email that asked about looking for PIGS investigators, and went on my first investigation in May 2008. And that was it! I had a great time there, and was thoroughly impressed by how the PIGS work. A lot of other groups in my area are those that you pay for membership, so go on a lot of investigations with no real follow up or write up. I feel that the PIGS work in a very professional way and are respectful of the locations and anything that may be there.

Qualities:
I feel I have a lot to bring to the team, and through my work, I feel I have good people skills. I am very interested in photography. When it comes to the paranormal, I am pretty sceptical, and will try and rule out anything until all options are eliminated before looking at the paranormal. I am also a severely patient person, and don’t mind standing around for hours on end waiting for something to happen- I’d make a great fisherman!!! I have a good sense of humour, which I would describe as dry and a little off the wall. I see that as a strength!!!
