Thermometer
This is a laser infrared thermometer, there are many different models available, they are great to get an instant temperature reading, to aid the investigator In identifying hot or cold spots within a room.

 

 

  

 

 

 

   Hints and Tips

Remember that this device will only give readings for the point that it is focused so will not give a room or air temperature.

Many users will be fooled into thinking a temperature change has taken place if the reading is taken as an absolute for the area. we suggest if you are using this type of thermo reader you identity a measurement area no bigger than a postage stamp and take continued readings from the same point and distance every time a reading needs to be recorded.

Other methods could be that you suspend some cotton wool in the middle of the location leave it there for an hour before any temp measurements are taken of it and use this as a way to gage an average air temperature for a location.
