Computers and their use

As with all equipment different computers car more specialised in areas than others, or perform a task better. Here are the key computers we use within the group and a description of what we use them for.
Windows based laptop's

The Windows based laptop we use on an investigation is getting on a bit now, however it suits its task very well. We use the Windows XP laptop for CCTV monitoring and recording. This laptop also receives the data logger information and its used as a |
memory dump for the EVP recorders so we don't ever delete any data before it gets analysed on or after an investigation .
Windows based PC

The Windows PC allows us to speed up the production of videos and various other publishing tasks, it works along side the iMac. For those that love geeky stuff ours is a quad core, 4mb ram 1gb dedicated graphics HP running W7 ultimate, for those that don't care about geeky |
stuff, its about the size of a computer has a shiny front and is reasonably fast.
iMac

The iMac running the latest OSX is where the majority of website and graphics are made, along with presentations and video work alough the PC also undertakes some of these tasks. We use Mac's simply because the graphical design and presentation capability is better that |
the PC equivalent. This computer also runs the programmes for EVP analysis.
Mac book Pro

This is our Mac on the road, it is the computer we use mainly for our event presentations. although is loaded with all the same software as the iMac incase we need to conduct on the spot data analysis. |
iPad 2's

The iPad roll on an investigation is more used for running experimental apps but stands as back up to the Mac book should anything happen to it, as our iPads are all loaded with the presentations and software needed to continue should we have a failure with our mac book pro. |
