"I was out walking my dog about 35 years ago, and my girlfriend and i were sat on the bench alongside the footpath. It was a misty night, and we distinctly hear footsteps about 20m away from us on the grass, only it sounded more to use like someone was walking on gravel. It was about 9.30pm. I went to investigate, and there was no-one there".
"I’ve lived in Pevensey all my life and apart from the obvious stories of local haunting’s that have been reported, I have been told that ‘Church lane’ that runs alongside the castle is haunted by the spirit of a man killed by a horse and cart. Apparently he can be seen at certain times of the year gliding towards the Castle".
" I’ve been working in a Pub close to the Castle for a few years now and the worst thing iv heard about the haunting is that if you see the ghost of the drummer man [not a drummer boy as previously heard- LS] on the top of the Castle walls it is supposed to be an omen of impending doom. Iv heard of a man who had seen the ghost and was made bankrupt and committed suicide not long after. It makes me nervous as I walk home and I never look up at the walls just in case"
"There has been a story circulating for some time now that people have walked into a ghostly apparition at the crossroads of paths in the middle of the Castle enclosure, I have always felt watched while passing through here" .
"I was hosting a team build at this location there were seven teams of five each team was equipped with various pieces of equipment which included an EFM MG meter, an EVP devise, digital cameras, communication two way radios, laser thermometers. we decided to have eight locations for the teams to visit through the night some were reported as haunted and some we had simply made up the point of this was to see if the data the teams collected would be different between reported activity in haunted locations and alleged activity in non haunted locations, i can tell you that all of the fabricated locations were flat and several of the actual haunted locations were actually active. One such active location is not far from the castle gate up against the castle wall. while i was monitoring this team via a radio there was all of a sudden loads of static interference i could hear the team scream when i debrief this team they reported a massive temp drop an extreme pressure on their chests and ringing in their ears not overwhelming but present none the less, there instruments lost power there radio appeared dead even though i could hear them and their channel. there was also two team members that witnessed a shadow of a figure around 5,5 ft walk towards them but vanish about ten feet away".
"Another team reported touch sensations on the opposite side of the castle where one by one the team sensed their hair being moved their face being stroked and their cloths being tugged. Along with odd sounds and lights. Their video footage displayed orbs and their digital photographs displayed orbs and tracers".
"Upon another visit i personally had phenomena happen to me, we were in a place we called the ladies walk which is on the south side of the castle. We were standing there while Karen was talking through what she sensed we decided to try and carry out an EVP experiment and i was given the job of calling out. as soon as i started this the batteries died, so we swapped EVP units and then the second unit also failed as did the camcorder we were using, this left us with no kit so we decided to do the call outs anyway I remember asking for a sign something about you (the targeted spirit that is) all of a sudden there was an amazing sense of perfume but like nothing i had ever smelt before very sweet I can only liken this to perhaps rose water the really odd thing was it was only me that had this when I tried to breath in to truly get this aroma it wasn’t there but i still had then sensation of it i taste or feeling in my nose and face that it was there which it was. I suggested to the spirit that perhaps she could guide me around this wonderful location and that she did the sensation stayed with me throughout the location until the gate when I asked her to return to the castle as we were leaving and then the sensation was gone".
"On a more recent visit I was explaining this to another in the same location and they all of a sudden reported feeling sick, I suggested we should walk on and it would pass which it did but then they had the very same perfume sensation, as we approached the castle wall I was explaining some history when there was a woman’s voice clear as anything suddenly call, it sounded like an opera singer about to start singing it was indeed very strange".
"I was wihmy son who was five at the time it was dusk and as clear as anything we both saw a figure walk across the grass about 100 ft in front of us now what was weird about it was it was like a transusent tennis player in white i meen by that its movements didnt match the speed that it moved at and it vanished into thin air".
